A Brief-ish Introduction

Introductions are always awkward, aren\’t they? Where to begin? What do I say that is worth saying? What is important?

To understand our journey, introduction to us is necessary, so let us embrace the awkward.

We are Jason and Amy Ford, residents of a suburb of a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee. We have been married for nearly eleven years and have two children, a four year old son named Judah and an almost two year old daughter, Anna June. I (Amy) am a former English teacher turned writer and stay-at-home mom, and Jason works in the fire safety business. We have a curmudgeonly dog named Sooner and a goldfish named Oscar.

A sweet, cozy life by any definition.

We both became Christians in our college years, and we\’ve volunteered in various areas of ministries ever since, specifically youth and prayer. We\’ve always tried to obey God in everything and live our lives as unto Him, even in the mundane.

Over the last nine months, we have felt a shift in our lives, as if ten years spent ticking slowly up the incline of the roller coaster had led to a sudden, stomach-sinking rush downhill. We found ourselves meeting people who we had always looked up to from afar; we were receiving prophetic words in such increased frequency as to leave us shaking our heads. God has opened doors and directed us in ways we have never seen before. I will not enumerate each divine directive here, but I will summarize by saying that it has been an awe-inspiring journey already.

Jason and I had felt the need to join a mission trip to Albania. We have a love for Eastern Europe and the Balkan area of the world. That trip is coming this July 6th. As of this spring, we felt led to join a prayer tour of the 13 Original Colonies of the United States as soon as we return from Albania. We feel this prayer journey is significant to re-establish the original foundations of freedom and faith of this nation. Finally, through a strong prophetic word Jason received and several confirmations and open doors since, we will spend two months this fall volunteering at David\’s Tent in Washington D.C., a fifty day, 24/7 worship and prayer event on the White House Ellipse. With the exception of the Albania mission, we will do all this together as a family.

There are challenges ahead. We will need to raise financial support to cover living, travel, and home expenses. We will need prayer covering and wise counsel from our spiritual authorities. We will have to learn how function as an intercessory missionary family with two very young children, living out of suitcases, in host homes, in unfamiliar places. We have to share our vision and hope people will understand, and brace ourselves when they don\’t.

We know one thing, and of this we are convinced: we must obey what we know God is calling us to do. God\’s ways are not our ways, and the Kingdom He is building is more important than one we could build.

We humbly ask you to come with us as we share our life on the roller coaster. We ask you to pray with us and support the work God is doing if you will. We are expectant of God\’s power and glory to change people and nations, and we will chase Him to see it happen.
