Suitcases and Strings

We are less than a week away from saying a short-term goodbye to our peaceful rural nest and making the ten-hour trek to our nation\’s capital. Jason has worked his last day at his job until November 8th, and we have begun in earnest to pack suitcases, make lists, and tie strings.

Jason has graciously arranged a day for me to be child-free in order to finish some projects, clean, and do other tasks which are difficult with the tug of children, and which the completion of will make me a happier and less-stressed mommy. Updating this blog is one of them!

God is a craftsman of logistics; He artfully weaves our needs into a masterwork beyond our imaginings. Like a conductor for a symphony, He knows exactly when and how each note should hit. I say this as a witness, and the stories of His orchestration through this process are beautiful.

The latest timely note came last night. As Jason and I drove to a conference to see Lou Engle share, we received an e-mail stating that housing had finally been secured for us (another long story). We found out we will be staying at the DC Justice House of Prayer. This is an incredible opportunity, not only to have a safe place for us and our children to stay, but to be in a place where God is praised and prayed to continuously. We are excited to meet the young people interning and operating this place of intercession in the center of government for our nation.

We are even more amazed at how The Lord orchestrated this opportunity. We always had an unusual peace about where we would stay, despite the fact that every possibility fell through. The staff with David\’s Tent worked on our behalf to find a host home and we looked into renting a room or studio apartment. Nothing panned out. We contacted our local connections, but no one was able to help. This opportunity literally came at the last minute, but it is the best situation we could ask for.

So, the next few days will be full of natural preparations (How do you really prepare to be gone for two months? With two kids? Across two seasons?!). But we will also prepare our spirits with fasting and prayer, with sharing the vision and marinating in the Word. We thank everyone who has prayed and donated. We ask for your continued prayers as we travel and get situated in new lifestyle.

Grace and peace,
Amy
