Awaken the Dawn Assignment: Update One

\"IMG_7466\"Hello to you all from the historic town of Fredericksburg, Virginia! We have been here a couple of weeks now, getting our paces with Jason\’s assignment, our living situation, home school, a church community, and the general adjustments of a different place.

For years, Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace and its congregation, Awakening Community Church have hosted an annual gathering under this name. This year, however, the vision shifted to a call for nationwide worshippers to fill the National Mall, with a tent for every state hosting 24-hour worship and prayer for the three-day event, with the fourth day being a call to the praying women. That last day is called Rise Up; it is being led by The Call ministry.
This initial vision has grown into a movement that we believe could spill over into tent gatherings all across the nation!

Jason is working as a personal assistant to David Bradshaw. He is putting in long hours with meetings and learning new systems for communication. It is a great opportunity to gain experience with the leadership of such a large project.

We have learned to anticipate the disorientation of the first few days of any longer assignment, but I would say that this trip has been our smoothest transition to date. Perhaps that is due to experience, and all the people praying for us, but I would also attribute it to the hospitable and friendly community in which we have landed. We have been so welcomed by the people here.

As we prepared for this journey, we wondered, why Fredericksburg? Why is this movement developing in this relatively small town fifty miles south of Washington? And why did God place us here, serving in this capacity? Historically, we have gone as prayer missionaries to the grounds of a move of God to fast and pray, to spiritually map, and to evangelize. So, why would God put us in this position, in this place, this time?

Fredericksburg is a town rich with spiritual history. Mary Washington, mother of George, lived here during the Revolution and prayed daily for her son from a place now called \”Prayer Rock.\” Almost a hundred years later, three Civil War battles took place here, and more Civil War soldiers died here than anywhere else in the country. God is using this community to nurture a revolution of His Spirit that will affect the nation. We are privileged to be a part of the team to both pray and prepare.

I believe our nation is at a boiling point, between race, politics, media, protests, corruption, opinion wars, and on and on and on. We are not in need of more opinions. We are not in need of someone to be \”right.\”

We are in need of a Healer.

Someone who can put His hands on our freshly-opened wounds and make them like new.

We do not need another rumor of war.

We are in need of a man called Prince of Peace, who rules and reigns with justice and mercy in His hands.

We do not need mobs of screaming marchers.

We need a united Body of Christ to stand with weapons of praise which drive out the darkness.

Pray and prepare with us, will you? Come to the National Mall October 6-9. Bring your weapons of praise. Lift your banner of Love. Stand with us.
